For large restoration jobs, it is frequently required to move contents to protect them. Only a secure heated facility will be utilized. This will allow space for reconstruction as well. Ecotech personnel will safeguard your possessions and handle them with care. Our technicians take detailed record of all your possessions being moved to storage.

Drywall, ceiling tiles, insulation, paneling, and other porous materials that have been directly affected by water damage should be removed, typically during an emergency service visit.
If the wood flooring in your home has been damaged by water, it must be continually evaluated by a qualified technician during the drying process. We use our professional-grade dehumidifiers and drying systems to foster the ideal environment for wood flooring to efficiently dry and resume their original shape optimally. Drying can take three weeks or longer, depending on density of hardwood and the type of finishing used. If you have filed a claim, your insurance adjuster will work with you to make final decisions as to whether the flooring in your home needs to be replaced or refinished.
Any rugs affected by water damage will be taken for special treatment and care. They need to be carefully dried to minimize discolouration and bleeding of colours. Your rugs will be cleaned, dried, and then returned to you and your home after they have been completely dried, and the rest of your home has been completed.
Specialty flooring that is nonporous can trap water and prevent it and any materials underneath from drying properly.
When water damage is present in your home, carpeting on stairs is typically not removed for safety reasons. Any exposed tack strips or staples on stairs can be dangerous. There are situations when removing carpeting from stairs is necessary, however, to prevent additional damage to hardwood steps underneath, or in cases of sewage contamination. Removing the tack strips is not advised, as it may cause damage to the hardwood or sub-floor. When carpeted stairs are damp, extreme caution must be used if the tack strip is exposed. If carpeting left on the stairs is unable to be salvaged, it will be removed when the new carpeting is installed.
A small sample of your carpet pad is brought in for a match. An identical pad will be used when available. If not available, we will provide one with the same density, thickness, and quality. In this case, it may differ in colour based on the time it was manufactured.
Ecotech Restoration's water damage specialists evaluate the moisture content in your ceiling to determine the severity of damage. Some of your ceiling may also need to be removed for ventilation purposes. The insulation inside the ceiling may also be a hazard if wet, and therefore may also need to be removed.
It is not always recommended to open the windows in your home for the drying process, as outside weather conditions vary. Your Ecotech Restoration technician will determine if opening windows is advisable.
It is strongly recommended that foot traffic is kept minimal during the drying process. If necessary, it is recommended to wear shoes during the process for safety concerns.
Whether your furniture can be restored is dependent on the construction and extent of the damage. Damage can be adequately assessed once your furniture has been dried. Furniture that cannot be salvaged will be documented for you, and if disposal of items is necessary, a customer release form will be required.

We strongly suggest that you don't attempt "do-it-yourself" cleaning methods after smoke and fire damage in your home without consulting your Ecotech Restoration technician. Mold Removal

Mould is a fungus that is found both outdoors and indoors. It is not known how many species of mold exist, but the estimates range from tens of thousands, to possibly more than three hundred thousand. Mold reproduces and spreads by creating spores. These spores can even survive conditions that are too hot, sunny, dry, wet, or cold allowing mold to grow. When spores are then released, they can be carried by water or air to new locations and cause more mold growth.

General Restoration Service Information

Ecotech Restoration is available to receive your call 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. A representative will be available to arrive at your home for an initial evaluation within 2 to 4 hours of receiving the call, depending on the situation and conditions.
All Ecotech Restoration's teams are licensed, bonded, and insured. You can trust that any of our technicians entering your home will be trained, compassionate, trustworthy, and courteous.
Some damage to your property and home may have existed prior to the loss. This damage will not be included in the scope of the repair work. Our responsibility is to return your property or home to how it was prior to the damage that occurred, utilizing materials of similar quality and kind. In other words, the pre-loss condition. However, at your request we can provide an estimate for any additional projects you would like our team to undertake. The additional work is deemed "non-insured work"
Construction projects that are unrelated to your loss are considered non-insured work. If you request, we can provide a separate estimate for any non-insured construction projects. This work will require additional authorizations and payment terms. If the non-insured work delays the completion of insured work, then the situation must first be fully discussed with your Insurance Adjuster and the Ecotech Restoration Project Manager.
A by-law or code upgrade is an upgrade made when your home's pre-loss conditions no longer meet the legal building codes or by-laws. Your insurance company may recognize by-law upgrades in the estimation process. Any questions regarding those upgrades should be directed to your Insurance Adjuster.
When required, your Ecotech Restoration Project Manager will acquire the appropriate permit(s) on your behalf, while identifying our company as the general contractor. Applicable permit fees are included in the estimates and may be covered by your insurance company.
No, you do not have to worry about being required to be home all the time during the restoration process. For site access, you may provide a key to your Ecotech Restoration Project Manager or install a private-coded lock box on the property or home.

Any construction related dirt or dust occurring as a result of work will be addressed in post-construction cleaning. For larger restoration projects, it is advised to move all affected contents to a secured climate-controlled facility, to make room for construction and protect them. Our technicians are trained and will treat your contents with care. We work with you and the Insurance Claims Representative to manage the process efficiently.
High-value items may require restoration by specialists. We can work with your insurance claim representative to help you identify those items and locate qualified restorers.
With advance notice, we can schedule the time for an Ecotech Restoration Technician to meet with you and provide access to requested items. Service charges may apply
It is recommended that you make a list of items (including food related items) that are deemed non-restorable. A form for this purpose may be acquired from your insurance company. Ensure to make a copy for your insurance company while keeping one for yourself.
We recommend that medications, pets, cash, valuable jewellery, chequebooks, stamp/coin collections, personal documents, guns / ammunition, valuable artworks, gasoline cans, and flammables be kept in your possession.
The property owner is responsible for all payment and will need to sign forms authorizing payments for restoration services. If it is an insurance claim, Ecotech Restoration typically collects only the deductible or copayment amount from you and we bill the balance to your insurance provider as a service for you. Your mortgage company may possibly be included as a payee from your insurance company if you have a large loss, and you may be required to obtain a signature from them as well. If you make the decision not to file a claim, or the claim is not covered by your insurance, then you will be expected to pay in full. Payment schedules may be agreed on prior to the beginning of any non-insured work.
